Girard Perregaux has been known as a manufacturer of complex timepieces mostly for men until the launch of the Cat’s eye. One first notices the oval case shape of the Cat’s Eye. Most ladies watches made in Switzerland have either round or rectangular case shapes so the Cat’s Eye is a refreshing change. The Cat’s Eye watch is powered by an automatic movement and made a bold choice when they decided to use only mother of pearl for all dials on the Cat’s Eye. GP’s designers kept the dial very clean by only placing Arabic hour markers at the quarter hours and moving the seconds hand to a sub dial on the bottom half of the watch. A moon phase indicator is elegantly incorporated into this subdial to give the Cat’s Eye a level of sophistication. A sapphire crystal caseback allows one to examine the movement. |
